Avril Lavigne - Under My Skin.. in a good way :-)

This album really got under my skin- in a good way. The songs on this album aren't as hard as her first album Let Go, but the melodies and lyrics are in my opinion a lot better. Fall to Peices is what you would call a sweet song and the bobus U.K track, I always get what i want and He wasn't are typical Avril songs. But My happy ending makes me feel so good.
This album shows how much Avril has changed since her first debut cd Let Go. While Let go's songs' lyrics were funny, this album's lyrics are more (how do I put this?) mature. This is more of an all rock album than a pop+rock mix but you know rock always has its hidden pop thingy. What more can I say about this album? Well in my opinion, it totally rocks out loud and I love it. For that people who like songs that make you scream and dance all over your house, I recomend you this album.

Hot Fuzz! Yummy!!

The story tells us of an over-active 'policeman officer', Nicholas Angel (Played by the co-star of Shaun of the Dead, Simon Pegg) who is sent to work his duties out in the countryside, to avoid his use of excessive arrests. Suspicions arrive in the town however, as people start getting killed 'accidentally'. Coupled with his rather unprofessional partner Danny Butterman (Similiarily played by Shaun of the Dead star Nick Frost) they get themselves into suspicious circumstances Nicholas Angel fails to ignore.

But what can I say? It's just hilarious! An incredibly funny, witty, intelligent British comedy that manages to bring you to tears with laughter and also offers extremely well directed and executed action scenes! If you liked the likes of Shaun of the Dead, you'll love this, simple as that. I was oddly surprised to find that it was incredibly violent, albeit, in a cartoony way, but it will definitely make you squint. Plenty of cameo's by the likes of the hilarious Bill Bailey and a great cast will make this a action/thriller/comedy hard to forget! Excellent.

300 - the movie - scoring high!

I somehow missed the hype on this one, and the trailer really didn't excite me, but I got a chance to see an advance screening and the other reviewer here who said "It blew me away" hit the nail right on the head.

I generally hate going to the cinema - preferring to wait until the DVD or HD-DVD are available because I'm fed up of shoddy prints, poor sound systems, ignorant members of the public with their ringing phones, late arrivals, noisy popcorn etc. My home system is so much better. But not for this movie! It needs to be seen on the big screen (preferably an Imax - I'm hoping to catch it a second time on IMAX) with a good sound system. The images are consistently breath-taking, the sound is staggeringly good and note-perfect throughout, and Gerard Butler is barely recognisable as the guy from "Dear Frankie" (a great, under-rated movie) and "Phantom of the Opera".

Highly recommended. I've given it a 9. This makes "Gladiator" look like a cheap kid's cartoon.

BlackBerry Pearl -- A Real Gem of a Cell Phone!

Features and Design
Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) EDGE/GPS world phone, usable wherever GSM service is available (all of Europe). Also a BlackBerry, with full push/pull enterprise and POP email services, along with Yahoo!, MSN, AOL, or ICQ instant messaging. Music player compatible with AAC, AAC+, MP3, MIDI, and WAV files and a video player compatible with most MPEG-4 Part 2 formats such as DivX, AVI and QuickTime, and stereo Bluetooth (Bluetooth 2.0). There's a 1.3 MP digital camera with flash, support for real music ring tones, HTML Web browsing, voice dialing, and the usual array of PIM functions. The T-Mobile version also supports the carrier’s myFaves feature. Aside from these sterile specifications, the petite Pearl (4.2” x 2.0” x 0.6”, a bit wider than Motorola's KRZR) is a pretty polished phone. And at 3.1 ounces, it's surprisingly lightweight. Pearl's 2.2-inch screen is bright, with better blacks and contrast than the BlackBerry 8700c.
Pearl's primary input method is its SureType QWERTY keypad, laid across 20 buttons (usually with two letters), punctuation or action keys (i.e. shift, alt, return, delete, etc.) per key, in a four-by-five key array. While Pearl's individual rectangular keys are approximately the same size as the BlackBerry 8700's square buttons, the Pearl keypad is so packed that accidental adjacent key hits are far more common. Above the keypad are four function keys — send, menu, back, and end — with a "trackball" controller, which is not really a trackball at all (it doesn't move). You simply rub your thumb over it to move the cursor up, down, left, and right. It's quite sensitive. We still missed BlackBerry's familiar spine jog shuttle wheel, with its tactile clicking feedback. Getting music into the phone is a dream, especially using Windows Media Player 11, which immediately recognizes the Pearl and lets you sync as if it were any other WMA music player (a USB data cable is included). Pearl is equipped with a standard 2.5mm headphone jack and comes with a mono wired headset. Any standard 2.5mm wired stereo headset will work fine if Bluetooth is a problem. Like all BlackBerry phones, accessing and programming the varying ring-tone and alert options requires unnecessary digital spelunking. For storage, Pearl includes 64MB of built-in memory and a microSD card slot, regrettably located behind the battery in a fragile metal pop-up slip.

Conclusion
While it looks sleek and fancy, there is no reason for a shrunken BlackBerry if it means shrunken text-input functionality. Still, if you don't plan to compose long responses, but rather seek a little entertainment and have a desire to snap a candid picture to accompany your e-mail without looking like a hip-holster geek then you qualify as a Pearl diver.

Pros
• Sleek looks
• Pocket-sized and lightweight
• 1.3 MP camera
• Digital music player
• Loud and clear conversations

Cons
• Awkward QWERTY keyboard
• Poorly-designed multimedia options and playback
• Poorly positioned microSD slot

Nokia 6120 classic - Finally a comprehensive Worldbeater Smart phone!!

Nokia's second affordable Symbian smartphone - the Nokia 6120 classic, much like the Nokia E50 it will be a fully functional smartphone on a budget.
It is HSDPA-enabled and comes with Symbian OS 9.2 with the 3rd edition of the Series 60 UI. The powerhouse behind this well established OS is a 369 MHz CPU. It additionally has stereo Bluetooth support, a miniUSB jack, FM radio and a microSD memory card slot.
It doesn't stop here since the mobile also comes equipped with 2" 16M colors TFT display with a QVGA resolution, a 2 megapixel camera as well as a secondary frontal camera for video calls. And all of that is fitted into a compact body weighing only 84 g which practically makes it the lightest Nokia GSM smartphone ever. Great phone!! Should not be missed.

Nine Inch Nails -- Year Zero

I can’t stop listening to the new Nine Inch Nails -- Year Zero. It’s equal parts scathing and cathartic. I’ve been a long time fan and have been enjoying the creative viral marketing that has been getting so much attention. Highly Recommended.

I'm speechless when it comes to this album. I wasn't expecting much but OMG, With Teeth was a piss stain, this album is the real deal. Don't get me wrong With Teeth was good but I couldn't listen to it from start to finish, it didn't have that weight but Year Zero, I find myself listening back to back. It starts on a good note and ends on a satisfying one. It wasn't until the album ended that I thought I gotta play it again and again. All 16 tracks stitch this masterpiece together.

This CD is great. Thats honestly all I can say, its left me speechless, its a grandiose piece with such a good message that you cant deny it...its that simple. Also a cool feature is that the disc is black but when you play it and take it out of the cd player it has turned white to reveal some more of the 'art'.

Music -- We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank -- Modest Mouse.

Modest Mouse are reported to be living somewhere inside this album. I, however, cannot find them. This is the first music they have released that is completely forgettable. It comes out of the speakers, into your ears and then disappears. All of the previous MM releases, and I've heard, loved and lived them all, are unique, enduring and beloved pieces of music; this record is not of that ilk. And that's a real shame, MM are one of the finest bands of the past 10 or 15 years, right up there with the likes of Ween, Built to Spill and all of the Jagjaguwar bands. Oh well, a rare miss. I'm still a huge fan, still gonna go see them whenever the tour rolls around (definitely go see them live, when Isaac isn't too drunk, the shows can be legendary), still gonna love the freak rock phenomena that is Modest Mouse, just can't seem to get behind this release.

This has some gems buried in the middle of the CD, but in general it isn't as good as "The Moon and Antarctica" or "GNFPHLBN". One thing I noticed was the the drums, especially the base drum, were really pushed forward in the mix. This has lead to the heavy sound some others have mentioned and, unfortunately, buried the melody in several songs. Perhaps Brock has chosen to reject the commercial route with this album but he has pushed the pendulum to the other extreme and in essence not stayed true to the path of his other CD's.
